Eeeep! Didn't I say I had, like, 33 kitties already? Well, I'm catching even more.... I think I just snagged a Yohji, Joe, Piccolo... Well, there's only one thing to do.
It's windy, and sunny and beautiful! However, I did not feel like shopping much. I am guilty of not putting together Christmas gifts, and now must scramble for the cheapest and most meaningful. That, and the fact that only the big purchases are left (to furniture, or not to furniture?) so I'm reluctant to spend.
The boys are swirling around me, pelting with ideas, and I'm trying to ignore them. I've never been one to have a lot of holiday spirit ever since I figured out that gifts are only fun when unwrapping them, and this year it's about dried up. But I do want to let people know that I care and I'm thinking of them, so that's important to me.
That's right, the Niners don't come to our house talkin' smack! You see what happens, we're gonna turn it ON, and you've got to RESPECT the Rams defense! Boo-yeah! You gonna be SMASHED, you gonna get it in yo' face, on yo' knees, you not gonna get *up* till our boys Kurt and Marshall bring you *down*.
*ahem* That was last week's highlights. I love macho posturing. Just damned exhilarating to watch the boys on the gridiron, amazing bodies smashing into each other, the strategy turning into pure grace and speed and power facing down hundreds of pounds of battering ram and making it past...
And we do hate the Niners. ^^ We'll get the Saints later, I swear. Some of our good coaching floated down the river to 'em. So watch on Monday night, we gonna whup 'em! Our voodoo is stronger... our voodoo is stronger...
Positively eerie to see the skyline of New York, even if it's just a cartoon. Really great animation, wonderful music, plus Rogue and Cyclops on the town in New York. I was in New York about a year ago.. it's so strange to see the landmarks perfectly recreated. It's weird, the view from the Brooklyn Bridge should have had the towers in view, so they might have deliberately changed the view. Lots of the comics dudes live in New York, and I know Stan Lee likes to do tributes. Really great details.
Mmm, Magneto and angel dude... an angel and a demon... Good ole Warren. Magneto, you broke the church! Somebody's paying for that! Dude, that looks like St. Patrick's. Go Rogue! I love when her eyes glow like that. Hey! That's the Chrysler building! What's the big idea?
I wanna slash Cyc and Warren! Mmm, meanwhile Rogue's gettin' points with Cyc. Logan's all alone... waaah! This was a really awesome Christmas episode. One of the best I've seen on toons.
I am eating up the Clow/Yue hints! Yue's whole demeanor changes around Clow. It was so poignant when Eriol came outside to talk to Yue. He wanted Clow to be back so bad... and for his own reincarnation to tell him he was never coming back? I'll just ignore the "you loved us like a father" thing. *g* Seriously, he has the same smile on his face for Sakura that he had for Clow Read. That's so cool! And of course, I loved the return of Mizuki. I wish they'd showed more of her going out with Touya, last season. Speaking of, Yue's got quite a tender look for Touya too... really interesting. I'll have to learn more before I incorporate it into RP. Either that or wait for someone to play Touya. I could handle Yukito, but probably not Touya. *sigh* I miss Syaoran already. All the times they've talked in the middle of the night, fought side by side, defended each other... bye, Chibi-Heero. May the Hope Card follow you wherever you go.
Totally awesome Digimon. First ep in the Digital World. I love this, completely new rules, completely new everything! Now *this* is Survivor! No food, no water, no map, no idea. Good thing Renamon knows what's up. She seems the most knowledgeable of the lot. Plus, the Devas sought her out among all the other digimon. Rika is having trouble with her zero-tolerance attitude. What's this with her and Jeri? Smells as shojo-ai as Henry and Takato are getting shonen-ai. So cute! Kazu and Kenta are doing a great job of being the comic relief. (Hopefully Rika won't be stuck with them.) And Leomon! He's just jumping right in. Have to remember that he's on default Champion level, not Rookie like the rest. That Fist of the Beast King packs a punch. *g* That was not intentional, I swear. I'm interested to see if he and Renamon have good chemistry. They're both down-to-business kinds, and there seems to be the usual correspondence between relationships.
Yay! A Very Digi Christmas! One of my favorite Digimon eps! Old school, yyyyyeaaaah! And best of all, they keep showing that really fast poem of Kari's! That bit went through way too fast, now I can see it over and over again. I miss Old School, dude.
Schweet! The Icemon Cometh! That is the scariest episode so far. His torn wings on either side of her... His hands as big as her torso, the one red claw. "You have no idea how exquisite you are when you are angry." Excellent evil laugh. I could write a fic on this episode. Eek. that's a bunny. *gets the broom* Shoo. Mmmm... Renamon has the best entrances. LMAO! Henry watching Terriermon deflate... that look on his face is hilarious. Dude, I love Guilmon. "Attack!" "Okey-dokey." It's easy to forget that he's the baby of the group. It'll probably matter that Takato created him... hey, kind of like Arukenimon and Mummymon, weird. Ewww, Icedevimon is hollow.
Naturally Jackie gets the bottom bunk under Touru.
I've never been so shaken up since September 11th. The Eleventh. Has it acquired capital letters already? Of course it has.
You know, you read the history books about all the charismatic men who orchestrated massacres of this sort, and you don't really want one in your living room, laughing, feasting, talking about martyrdom and soccer games in the same breath... talking of prophetic dreams...
I'm glad I watched it, though. No one is in the right, as far as I'm concerned. Let he who is sinless cast the first stone... well, I don't think it's us. But I'm glad I watched because that makes it seem like a natural disaster, as though zealots breed like thunderstorms and strike down whatever's in their path. This thing made him *real*. He's a person, not a monster. Flesh and blood, just like me. And that means I'm capable of the same things. Anyone is.
We can all choose.
I feel no hate for these men. Only pity, that as they defile their own sacred time of Ramadan, their prophets and their God will be watching. And I hope I can choose a life that is not like them, that values dignity and hope in the face of injustice. America makes injustice too. And even if inaction is our only sin, it's one step closer to that man and his followers.
Meep! Look at the smile on Yue's face... NnghghNNnn!! It's like when Aya smiles... so small but so stunning. And smiling at Clow Read. So cool. And there's my favorite theme of impermanence, and sakura. Wheeee! *bounce, bounce*
"I'm afraid I'll never be as close to them as you were." Sakura sees the chemistry...
Yue was so angry! "No one would ever be able to replace you!" I guessed right; thank heavens for good CLAMP continuity. The violence in his gesture, the passion in his eyes. OOOHHHHHH! That's so bloody sad! His last wish was to take care of his guardians! Waaahhhh! "He was angry. But he loves you as well as he loves me."
They need a master to survive....
That's just so sad. Damn, I'm bringing that to RP. I'm totally claiming Yue now, that's fascinating!
And I'm convinced Clow is like a big ole Chichiri. Hee.
*sobs* I wanna see that ep again! I was right, it's the only emotion Yue really shows, besides bewilderment when his powers don't work. Poor Yue!
I was a bad bad girl. I napped through a key Cardcaptors, and then I was so wrapped up in my website work I missed most of the silent Buffy episode! Gak! I wanted to see that Cardcaptors! However, what I did see got me screaming lovelilily. Gods, those dudes are scary. Plus, there's one of my favorite Spike moments. Cup of blood, anyone?
But I did get to flip between Smallville and Roswell. I loved future Max dancing with whats-her-name. (Heh, I really pay attention to that show.) It made me think of that Sting song... they dance alone...
Got some great X-Files dudes in Smallville. Mmmm... doe-eyed uke! Clark's such a good boy. Savvvesss Lex again. Schweet.
I know who's watching the Sock Party on Saturday. *g* No shoes! No shoes! No shoes, no shoes, no shoes, no shoes! LMAO.
It's not really a conscious decision not to do much to celebrate Christmas. More like, all my friends in the cities will be gone, and it'll just be my boys and me. I'm thinking about looking for a shelter to volunteer my time on Christmas day, but it won't really alleviate the need to have a family around.
Shifting families is hard, dog. Mostly because I don't know what to expect from other people anymore, I don't trust as well as I used to. And the people I trust the most have lives of their own and little time for me. Even if I were to ask for time, I don't know if I could really share it with them properly. I'm so easily distracted, so selfish, such a youngest-only-child need machine, that's really my only safe place.
But damn, I am happy. Happier than I've been in years. I can meet my own needs without beating myself up, I can go at my own pace, I'm *free*, thank God. So maybe I can bundle up and go to midnight Mass on Christmas and apologize to Him for missing most of his birthday, and tell him straight that I'm not going to waste all the good stuff I've got.
Second chances, man, they shake me up. I get so many, and they still shake me up.
But still... when there's frost on the window, and my tree looks too small under its load of lights and ornaments, and the boys huddle away from me, I can't help missing that feeling of belonging. And wanting, really really wanting a family of my own. Blood or bond, doesn't matter. Hoping the friends I see as more than just-friends will let me in too.
2:21 PM recipe sliced bread, preferably a softer kind
3 eggs
1 cup milk
1 pound lean ground beef
1 head of broccoli
1/2 pound of button mushrooms
half a large onion
minced garlic
a good melting cheese (I used colby jack)
tabasco
ground pepper
In a greased baking pan, place six buttermilk bread slices (I used a honey bread). Beat three eggs and about a cup of milk, and soak the bread with it. Saute the chopped onion with some minced garlic. Dribble tabasco on a pound of lean ground beef and smoosh. Make sure to drain the excess fat. Remove the onion and garlic, then brown the beef. Mix 'em in a bowl, sprinkle ground pepper, and set aside. Chop up some button mushrooms and broccoli, as much as you want in the dish; generally enough to cover the baking pan. Grate enough cheese to cover the bread evenly, and then double that amount. Mix in about three heaping tablespoonfuls of large curd cottage cheese into the beef. Sprinkle half the cheese on the bread, then spoon in the beef mix. Put the vegetables on top, and then the final layer of cheese. Cover the top loosely with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until the bread layer is firm and steaming. You may want to drain the excess liquid about halfway through.
And this was Shusu acting like Martha Stewart. ^^
This recipe should serve six (aka a week of dinners, wooo!) The cottage cheese should add lots of moisture to the dish, so you don't have to overload on the cheese. The result is a good healthy crunch from the vegetables, the soft, spongy crust, and lots of the meat's natural flavor (with a kick from the tabasco.)
I think I'll call it "Good Head Casserole."
Next we'll show you how to decorate your sex toys for the holidays.
[*] I knew I'd seen evidence someplace! See Yue totally freak out at the sight of Clow Read.
[*]!!! Squeeeee! I got my Harem House CDs from Wiggle! Last but not least, ne? Hee hee! Oooh, it's got that one song that echoes the Hunter fic-bunny. Look, it oozes sex, coooool!
!!! Henry and his dad. That's soooo cute! Henry has such a deep respect for him, he has trouble telling him stuff. That's such a great character detail.
[*]!!!!!!!! 0_0 Riley is sleeping with Yamaki! See that, those are pink slippers! I doubt Yamaki wears pink slippers, so she brought her own! Which must mean she either packed an overnight bag or Yamaki's in her apartment! Yeeeeek!
We pause for a special musical interlude. Bom chika bow bowwwwww! We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog.
[*]! Leomon's on the roof! They bonded pretty damn fast, ne? Even after all that chasing. Interesting how Jeri's sock puppet takes a backseat to all the digimon stuff.
[*]!! Miss Isaji reading the essays. Geez, that's got to scare a teacher to death! (Terriermon's got to be having fun letting the 'mon out of the bag.)
[*]!!! Takato's parents. That was damned gutsy of the kid. I liked that they didn't cut out his mom's freakout. Guilmon must be used to those kinds of reactions.
[*]!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yamaki's NICE! He also has all the personal files on all the kids, their whereabouts, and probably still wants to destroy all digimon--- but he's nice! Go figure. I guess unemployment does strange things to a person. And UhNNNgHNNN, he's got that Matt vibe when he takes off his shades! Nnnnnn. He's so cute when he smiles! But then again, he's probably keeping the kids as an ace in the hole so he can go forward with his evil plans. But oooh, who cares, he's hot!
I love how the show's reminding everyone that they're just kids. There's less Destiny in this series, and more fighting one's way through to *earning* the right to tame. S'too awesome.
Oh, and I was remarking on the lack of butt shots, and I noticed that Riley got one this week. *Snerk*. Bom chika bow bowwwww....
I also saw that they made "Yamato" into "Yamaki". Or maybe I'm nuts. Review your original tapes ^^.
*sings* Yourrr love is better than chocolate, better than anything else that I've tried...
