I've been listening to nothing but Sting this holiday week. His songs... twang. It's like this resonating chord inside, the boys turning their faces up, the words turning my palms up.

"Fragile" is so... there are no words. Before, I used to think of glass people when I heard that song... but now, the images are so evocative of the Eleventh... I remember it rained, after, a light rain but it hampered search efforts. "If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one // Drying in the colour of the evening sun // Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away // But something in our minds will always stay // Perhaps this final act was meant // To clinch a lifetime's argument // That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could // For all those born beneath an angry star // Lest we forget how fragile we are."
It's so odd to think of Sting hearing about the disaster in Italy, recording this very song that he wrote several years ago.

"They Dance Alone" and "All This Time" I've listened to a lot too. "Fields of Gold" and "If I Ever Lose My Faith", like sunshine on a blank wall.

And, of course, most of the bishies crowd around this one: "When we dance, angels will run and hide their wings..."

Man, I really wish someone would put together a Cowboy Bebop video for "This Cowboy Song." Especially with that dog howl at the end... I forget which Yoko Kanno song it is, the one where Ed sings, in Japanese... have you seen my puppy? And then Ein starts howling along, LOL! Anyway the song is just perfect for Spike. I can see him ambling across the screen... dressed in the serape... and there's tons in there that could use his walking into the cathedral in "Ballad of Fallen Angels." Could almost stick the whole song into the "Green Bird" sequence. And of course the song is fast enough to put lots of his fluid fighting. Oooh, and that jazzy keyboard and organ is simply perfect for Cowbe.

Geez, lots happened in the past few days! I was overjoyed when Aussie accepted her new Magtile petpet. RP named him "Akio-kun" for me. ^^ I guess I'll find out when I watch Utena.
Lacey and I had a Battledome fight -- it was close but Anthur lost. Great fun, though! I also got a new high score on Pterattack. And then, because I couldn't stand it anymore, I got a couple of Rainbow Passes, bought a morphing potion, and, holding my breath, changed Anthur's species. Coincidentally it was right at the hour of his birth, because when I started he was 320 days old and it turned over to 321. Wow! So, very very nervous, I turned him first into a yellow Koi... and then used the Rainbow Fountain to make him a Halloween Koi! Now he's a little red devil, and my red-yellow-green family is complete! A gorgeous shade of red, too, just perfect in so many ways to be the RfP mascot.

... yep, I'm easily pleased. ^^ If you haven't already, join me... joiiinnnnn meeeee...

I adopted another one. >.< His name is australia_dweller, and he was made and abandoned just today. He's a green Zafara with big blue utterly kawaii eyes. I caved! I've already moved my study in the Neohome to the first floor, and bought some furniture for his room. Book donations would be appreciated. I've got some money to burn, so I may get me a Magtile like I've always wanted. Hopefully Aussie won't be scared of it. Magtiles are crosses between Tyrannian maggots and snakes.

... come on now, you know me! Magtiles are lovely and white and utterly dangerous. And besides, Australia has some of the most dangerous snakes in the world. I've always wanted one. They go for a cool 10K, though, so I may wait on that purchase.

Unfortunately, like Gelerts, the Zafaras are under-represented in Neopia. So there aren't too many thingies for 'em. Speaking of Gelerts... Anthur won't be staying one for long. I am dithering about what to change him into. Something in a beautiful shade of red. Since Anthur's my site mascot, he really has to fit. Surprisingly my first choice is a Halloween Koi. Though I have reservations about turning my dog into a fish, this one's dressed up as a devil with fangs. A rather different personality, but it suits Anthur, I think. Other choices are the Eyrie or the Lupe, or even the Cybunny. Techo's up on the list too. But, I think I'll be looking for either a Halloween Koi potion or a Koi potion and a Halloween paintbrush sometime soon. Thoughts? I'd really like to know what you Neopets enthusiasts think.

Well, I'm fairly sure I've had worse Christmas Eves. I don't remember why, though. Not much tops almost fainting twice as I try to heat up potstickers to get something substantial in me and hysterically apologizing to God for missing Midnight Mass for the first time in years.

I feel sorry for the little wank, I do. California public schools are not easy, nor is L.A. on immigrants. If her only escape is to write bad fic and wail fan-girlishly at fic she's not supposed to be reading, then fine. She's got a little time, and college will mash her into shape, no matter where she goes.

No, little girl, you may not play with us, and a rising majority don't like you watching us, go and get your life straightened out instead of looking for yaoi RPGs.

Which just makes me feel like a hypocrite. Does Shu have a job? No. Has she even started to figure out how to transfer her credits to another school and start over? No. But that's that. Later I'll check out her FF.net shit, because I'm a masochist, and because at one point I was a little immigrant girl who spoke perfect English, integrated perfectly into the Midwest, in one of the best public school districts in the country. Because while they were always curious about me, they never hated me for what I am.

Whatever. I'm the bad cop, and this nit is detrimental to the House. (My House, says a voice inside.) I already told her I could kick her out without giving reasons. Way to cover your ass, Shu. The truth is, I have a bad feeling about her, we all do, but that's all she's heard so far in life... and a group of complete strangers who've only spent a couple of text-hours with her are gonna tell her that. No, I am. Nudge her quietly off the edge, or escort her kicking and screaming, but she's out.

It's just the teacher in me raining the guilt. That's what a teacher should do, after all. Those poor sods aren't the cream of society, they'll be everything society is, whatever community you live in. These are the kids who'll get arrested, get conceited, get white-suit pointless jobs and throw money back at themselves. All mixed in with the next leaders, inspirers, dreamers, innovators, mavens. Sometimes both at the same time. And you have to teach them the same stuff. They won't learn it the same way, if at all, but you have to try, for every kid in the classroom.

Teachers save lives every day.

But I'm not the teacher for this one, I'm the bitch who's gonna kick her sorry ass out of our playground, because it's bigger and more special than the sum of its parts. If she wails about it in her livejournal, I'll be fuckin' proud. That's right. Life isn't fair. Wipe your feet before you enter our House, and *yes* we are _all_ amazing writers in here, and we've all worked our fingers off to bring it to life, and septuplet exclamation marks will _never_ mean more to us than a good hard critique and the acceptance of our peers.
