That is the coolest fucking Digivolution or Biomerge or Jogress EVER. She has a shakujo. She has purple lips. She has dom boots. I... I am speechless. That was a damn good entrance, and DAMN the drama was amazing.
...through koa-ani. This literally means little face, and as far as I can find out they're a big website fad among the Japanese netheads. They're basically just that... they can have arms and accessories and they certainly have faces, but no feet are allowed. They just float. Kinda like iMood except uniquely Japanese.

I've learned more from surfing Japanese graphics sites about Japan than all the research and fanfic and such. This is current Japan, this is a dynamic web presence. And the koa-ani are wonderful because they're doing -Japanese- things. Their dress. Their mannerisms. Even their emoticons. Did you know right-side-up emoticons are actually Japanese? They have so many! Mousing over what the koa-ani are called told me that \*^_^*/ is Wai!, basically someone throwing their hands up. There you go. You get the meaning of an otherwise silly expression, and a gesture that's commonly understood among Japanese people.
Sky's Animations is probably the best site to go koa-ani watching. Sky has an English section; click on Fairy Tales and Little Story for the best stuff. From Momotaro to Chinese New Year's to sakura watching, all these little nuances of culture that Sky probably doesn't think twice about. I recognized some of the Japanese ghosts in that section, after all my research. And I'm desperate to find out what "Titans" is, it looks like shoujo anime to me.

Had a particularly awful snake dream last night. Though I own a snake, writhing snakes tend to symbolize frustration. Maybe not fear, but anything that carries a great deal of suspense with it. There was a running theme of some stupid Survivor type game and lots of people who didn't know each other. Then just as they were going to leave, the dream got all weird and the plane crashed in front of us. No flames, but this swirl of intrigue and lies... and it was very realistic, rare to have realtime in my dreams. Then we went back and talked about how everybody was lying and not what they seemed. Then the snakes.
Gee, I don't need a degree to know what that was all about.
In other news, Abette is one year old on Neopets. He's now an Ultimate Genius which means I can read to the other pets. I think StarSong is going to get the lazy ass Khnum petpet. I'll name it Yotan and watch her bash it.
Article about the ogre Shuten-douji. That's the first part. There's a great deal of pseudohistorical speculation, in other words it's a load of hooey, but AFAIK this guy's facts are right. His conjecture's on crack though.
