the art fair!

Oooh, what a walk. I took many pictures which I don't expect to come out well, but what the hey! I collected many many business cards and took copious notes. Tonight I will scrap them a bit into the plastic pockets and report on specifics. I want to open a website just for it! I am split between "Viewing Pleasure" and "Red All Over." It may be the latter, so I can scan my Europe postcards and souvenirs. (But I still need that printer cable. Hrm.)

I bought a toe ring. It's silver and has scorpions on it. From afar (is less than four feet far?) it looks like a simple band. Fits lovelily and doesn't impede my walking. I may have to shed it during the winter, alas. It sits on my already abnormally long index toe.

Then it rained! Wheee, I was in my coat and with umbrelly I walked brazen down the street in the downpour as everyone huddled in the tents. Happily soaked. I'd managed to hit most of the fair even then, so I decided to slosh back to the bus. Booyah free transfers. Booyah catching all my buses with maybe five minutes of waiting. I also found Dreamhaven! Heee, it's on the same busline as Uncle Hugo's. SF/F/horror bookstores, very well known among the fen. Schweet, I should wander uptown on fine day. Alas it's not as fun to wander uptown with a friend and oh yes wads of cash for all the sexycool shit up there.

It was lovely and I had a bag of kettlecorn for two bucks, and photographed crowds of people and ohhhh I shot this sweeeeet black motorcycle next to the Vespa scooter tent, a Yamaha and utterly droolworthy. Kujuurou was smug. I also got it with the traintracks in the background, and behind them, this group of bikers (the pedaling kind) was coming up the trail. Gods, I love these cities! I should've wandered around earlier. Next up, State Fair! Wooooo, the Big Minnesota Get-Together. I've been here for years and I still haven't been to it. Always setting up for the coming semester or something. Well hah! This time I have a whole week before school starts, and I am gonna do the Fair, doncha know! ^_^

Man, this is what art should be. Thousands of people buying art, appreciating art, talking to artists, and they're selling corndogs, beer and kettlecorn! Schweeet.

Now I'm going to eat something else and go buy a sawhorse. The door needs more propping. Y'all know which one I mean. ^^

so many cool things I wanted you to see...

7:08 AM
squee!

Neopets, you craaaazy kooks!

It's Wormmon! Keehehehe!

But since that's the neopet, it'd have to be like Terriermon013 and Jen-noil. So... what petpet's like Ken? (As though I could afford to get another Neopet and afford a friggin' Baby Paint Brush.)

Dude. I can't believe Koma and Alucard went all the way last night. *sniffs* I need a self-serving storyline is what I need. Haven't thought of one yet.

Art Fair today! I should go get ready. I needs my camera and my sketchbook and foodsies and watersies. And damn it, what's my peak flow?!

Fuck me it's 200. Grrrr. Stupid green onions caused a reaction! Okee. Zoomzoom.

happiness

getting gas... this is very hard for me. I can't entirely explain it. there's something open and exposed about it, and I always manage to screw something up. but I did a few mantras and did it.
figuring out I could put the applications in campus mail despite everything being closed early on Friday
finding -everything- was in fact closed; picking up a kewl nursing psychology textbook off the free rack
getting lost at least five times. turning around at least five times. getting there.
the joy of getting lost in the first place
realizing the Twin Cities suburbs are even more sprawled than St. Louis
stopping at Taco Bell without getting smushed by semis
getting to the horsetrack / park and getting lost again
the friendly old man who found the door that was open
wandering around till I found someone to ask
a Sheryl Crow ticket for $39.... booooyah. take that Ticketmaster.
finding I didn't punch the mileage counter. punching it for the first time
rollahcoastah! not as good as Six Flags St. Louis (or Worlds of Fun, which I really really really want to ride while my bloodvessels are too young to pop ^^) but yay!
open road open road open road and the car not straining at fifty miles per hour
love highways. hate city streets.
screaming along to "Steve McQueen" as I wend my way home I went to sleep in Memphis and woke up in Hollywood
like Steve McQueen all I need's a fast machine
things are still not closed! sat there and listened to acoustic "Strong Enough"... love that song.
got bread, then stopped at the Shack (Radio), then got some beef
washed the car! it was a good car. the counter says thirty miles, so that's about eighty miles today
and
it
felt
good.

(*sigh*. anti-US Filipinos. and... "America. Please take us back." You freaks. Why don't you crack down on corruption and poverty first, before running back to Daddy Sam?)

7:58 AM
ommmmm

Productive. I will be productive. Despite the maddening urge to draw my Digimon Punch! sidebars, which would be Lee kicking you, sock side up (really really big sock. it's not that flattering of a pose, but I'll use it till I learn to draw enough to modify it) = fairly easy because I'm doing it from a screenshot
and Takeru, hands in linen wraps, cheek freshly Kaiser-whipped about to punch you. = very very hard even though I've seen it in my head for well over a year.
I also want to do Irvine and Yohji kisssssing. Had a good run last night before I conked out. I think they never got anywhere because 1) Seiji's right there. 2) Yohji doesn't need bottom/top etiquette with girls, but it's been a lonnnngg time since he's picked up a new boy. Poor Yohji. He's been thoroughly whipped, methinks. If Wiggle-luv is so inclined, we can continue where we left off, since I won't be bumped tonight.

Okay. I will get my day started before 1 pm. I will. This will happen.

AAAHHHH!
(the better kind)

Oh FUCK ME. This... Iwantthisssssssss.
How can you win your very own raw Japanese copies of Digimon Adventure, Bokura no Wargame, Digimon Hurricane Touchdown / Supreme Evolution! Golden Digimental!, Diablomon Strikes Back, and The Adventurers' Battle?

It's simple. Very simple. All you've got to do is design a digital monster, but not just any digital monster, Tataramon. Think long and hard about what kind of digimon the Sage Page's beloved, magnanimous scribe would make, filling out the following information...

Level
Type
Species
A Attack
B Attack
Description
AAAH! But I, I... how does one begin to design a digimon?! >.<

siiiiiiigh. Anyway, Neopets has half price day but it's been having database problems since last night. WTF. And it is wayyyy past time for me to tear myself away from the Net. Iccck. I need to stop these ruts. At least I am planning for the next several weeks. I've a few things to float around you, baby. See ya tonight. ^^

AAAHHH!
Digimon Frontier. UPN. September 9. Normally I don't reprint all of Tatara-san's text, but this needs to be decimated.
Verbatim from the Sage Page:

Digimon Frontier's US debut is set for 9.9 on UPN. Digimon will air Monday through Friday at 7:30 AM EST and Sundays at 10 AM. Most likely, the weekdays will be the realm of Adventure, 02, and Tamers, with Frontier laying claim to the Sunday slot.

The announcement, while making concrete the immediate future, doesn't put hearts at ease. ABC Family handled Digimon well. Will UPN be as kind? It's hard to say. This move puts Digimon back on a broadcast network rather than a cable station. It's a high profile animation, and by being shown on broadcast, it'll hopefully reach more viewers, but UPN is a fringe network at best, and there are large portions of the country where it does not reach.

Even if you have UPN, that doesn't guarantee you Digimon. As Mark Baggio notes, "some people may not be able to watch if their station opts for infomercials". Digimon's being packaged with other Disney animations with broadcast at the discretion of local affiliates. If they choose to air Digimon at different times from those posted above, they're free to. If they choose not to air Digimon at all, they're free to. When Saban pulled out of FOX Family Worldwide, he set in motion a wheel of causality that killed FOX Kids, killed his own production company, and completely redefined the animation powers in America. Networks and studios upset, we don't know what Tomorrow will bring. In Japan, Digimon is still going strong with at least two more series confirmed. Baggio speculates, however, that Frontier may be the last to make it to America. Let's hope Disney didn't move Digimon to UPN "to die".

DOLLZ!

Some of you may have noticed my lovely Shudoll. Both of them.
Check this out!! Go see the tutorial! Asian Dollz! I want to make a kimono for her! I have the base, and I like the face. Oooh, and I can make palettes now (I think), so I can mess with color schemes. Give her a beautiful yukata and maybe a fan. ^______^

There's also lots of LOTR, fantasy, Amy Brown and SF dollz links. Really cool.

7:12 PM
oops

Y'know how I've been going on about Steve Blum? Well... he ain't Spike. But that's okay! I still *heartheart* Steve. Spike is actually David Lucas. Coulda fooled me. *sets traps for feral kirbys*

It also fooled other people.
For some time, I firmly believed that David Lucas (Spike's VA) and Steve Blum were the same guy. In the interests of finding out the facts, I sent Steve Blum a letter (I couldn't find an address for David Lucas, or I would have sent him one instead.) This is the e-mail that I got in reply: PLEASE READ.
In better news, LELOLA and The Digimon Experience are back up! I'll have to wait a while for Radix to upload all his screencaps *cheers* but Pan-Chan is on the ball and delivering anime news as I type.

6:41 PM
no...
... I have not read Narnia. I started a few, but I think I was already spoiled by Lord of the Rings. My other fantasy books of choice are the Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper. The more historical / mythological backup, the better. Some of Orson Scott Card's are good, but then I rapidly switch into magic realism and modern fantasy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, S.N. Dyer, R. Garcia y Robertson, the ethereal Nina Kiriki Hoffman, the marvelous Esther Freisner and of course Ray Bradbury.

Runners up were The Magician's Nephew ("creative, original, caring") and The Silver Chair, which has the coolest graphic ooooh (accident prone, deep, glum). The book I'm most likely to write? "The Last Battle."

The second book written and the third chronologically, you're the story of a Narnia hundreds of years after the last visit, populated by mythological creatures struggling to overthrow a king determined to wipe them out. Susan's Horn brings help when it's most needed ...

Find out which Chronicles of Narnia book you are.

Today... I went to Best Buy. They did not have the parallel cable I needed for my scanner. (No all regions DVDs, either. Very nice stoves, though.) I looked. I did not touch.
I don't need the whole shebang with Adobe Photoshop, now that I look at it. My system would probably cave in anyway. But... jasc also makes Adobe Elements (or Essentials? dunno). It's not really that much cheaper... $100. But this is an acceptable profit margin if I get another job or finish enough drawings for a Cafe Press store.

I did buy a phone jack switcher and some batteries. That was about it. On the other hand, the room is extension corded and electrical taped to my satisfaction. Behold, handy-Shu! Now I have to actually get the real work done, and a little more cleaning. My goal is for a spotless clean (and organized, no stuffing in the closet) by the weekend. Little by little. There's a few other business things to take care of, but they're slowly getting done.

Then maybe I can start thinking about things like website launches.

*needs to remember she is actually busy! gak not having an external schedule.*

4:23 PM
gah!

Note to self:
cold winter nights = Touma and Kujuurou.
hot, sweltering, lick the sweat off a bishounen summer days = Ryo and Lee.

They're driving me mad!!! I can just see how muscled they are, Lee shaped by tai chi chih and aikido, Ryo bulked by hard work under the sun, the differences in their skin tones, their haaaaandddss, cracking wise on the high bleachers of a baseball game, eating ice candies at Ruki's place, little shove wars as they play video games in Lee's room, Lee holding his nose as Ryo shows him raw fish at the dock, pressed OH-so-close together in the rush subway home, Ryo winking at Lee, Lee laughing at Ryo, leaning over the guardrail watching the city, getting scolded by Mayumi when they both drink out of the container, mmmm milk dribbling down as they drink from the container, and ohhhohhoh catching the amorous look in each other's eyes, locking the door, and that first hungry kiss of the day after hours of touching and looking, that first jolt of heat, shirts fluttering up and off, finding out by trial and error just where to touch and how, what sounds need to be muffled in the small room, smelling of sweat, tasting of salt, looking like minor gods in the long summer twilight, grey and blue eyes hazy with love...

It's enough to make one want to draw by sheer force of WILL. UGhhhhh.

In other news, I watched some GW. Remember when that meant mobile suits and not the POTUS? ^^ And I recall now, quite vividly, why I like Chief Engineer Mizer, Abdul of the Maganacs, and Sylvia Noventa.

2:19 PM
I officially
hate Sundays alone.

Any other day of the week, I am perfectly content being by myself and doing this fledgling independence thing.
Sundays there is no one around to listen to Acoustic Sunrise with, make brunch for, go to church with, go to the park or see a concert or even sit at home and go through the week's godawful mess and get ready for the next one.

Baby, I want a Sunday for my birthday.

11:23 AM
the dubbed version ^^

Stuff I forgot from yesterday: Juggernaut. Ohhhh Jesus, Juggernaut and Grow Mon Grow remains a tour-de-force, after *so* many viewings. Takato sneaking out of the house at one in the morning to battle? That means he was in the park *before* the 'mon emerged. Yamaki unnnnnnnn. I *heart* Steve!
I need screencaps!! There's a full shot of Henry's apartment complex and its street, a glimpse of his purple door and the flat number. Not to mention a closeup of what the family eats for dinner, and the kitchen. Jaarin is pretty talkative, but I swear Rinchei *never* says anything. Mwahaaha! I can fanfic him. Janyuu is a ham ^^.

Let's look at Lee getting fucked again.

All the Shoujocon reps make me want to cosplay. My bodytype and ethnicity leave the possibilities wide open. Most of my faves require some body armor though. Sakuyamon, Kayura, Iria. My kingdom for a good shoulder guard? Can one do that with papier mache? I can do that. Foamies probably a better idea, though.

(*secretly wants to be Chocolate*)

Oi, I'm so wiped after last night. That was a good fight ^_^ After a year and a half, Koma finally, officially has his man. Or more correctly, his dhampir has him.

I like Jounouchi. (That's the first sign, when I learn their Japanese names.) I think he's my first real underdog. Normally I'm all for Pegasus or Seto Kaiba types, but man... Joey's a hoot. ^^

Neopets! You destroy me!

Oi, you do know you can stream Acoustic Sunrise, right? Every Sunday! Tune in, it's worth it.

"I was only kidding when I called them a couple of dicks
But then they made me do the stupid human tricks
Now I'm sitting in jail with a bunch of dumb hicks
I think I'm an alright guy
I just wanna live until I've gotta die
I think I'm alright"

- Alright Guy, Todd Snyder (sp?)

Other songs of the moment - "Where Are You Going?" Dave Matthews Band and "Driving Me Mad" Neil Finn. I wanna go see Cowboy Junkies tonight! But I don't have my driving legs yet. :/

something good has begun
